    Hermosa-area fire burns 200 tons of hay  Sep 2, 2009
    According to Rapid City Fire and Emergency Services Battalion One officials, it is unclear what caused the fire, but it may have been spontaneous combustion of the tightly baled grasses not allowed to dry completely before going through the haying equipment. A neighboring rancher saw the fire and called emergency crews at about 11 a.m Tuesday to a ranch about 1 mile east of Hermosa on Highway 40. (Rapid City Journal, SD)

    Haying machine sparks Midland fire  Jul 3, 2009
    A piece of haying equipment hit a rock Thursday afternoon and sparked a fire that burned nearly 160 acres near Midland, according to Reuben Vollmer, Midland Volunteer Fire Department fire chief. There were no injuries or damage to structures, although flames charred fence posts and several power poles. (Rapid City Journal, SD)
