    Livestock take center stage as Cochise County Fair opens  Sep 25, 2009
    Haylee Bidegain, 16, of San Simon was blow drying her steer, Killer, after giving him a bath in the wash rack. With her mother, Monica Bidegain, looking on, Haylee spent a lot of time on Killer s coat, misting him with diluted conditioner to give him a smooth shine. (Sierra Vista Herald, AZ)

    As kids prodded pigs to the wash racks with canes, many squealed angrily, charged or refused to move ... In the fair s swine barn, 4-H participants as young as fourth grade dressed in shorts and barn boots spent the afternoon spraying their pigs down with handheld garden misters, herding them into wash racks to hose them off and offering them Gatorade to boost electrolytes and sugar when water wasn t enough.     Residents gear up for county fair  Jul 30, 2009
    4-H and FFA members from the different areas of the county and their parents unloaded their animals or prepared stalls and for some of the beef and dairy animals the first stop was the wash racks to begin cleaning them and to get them cooled off. Judging was already going on inside the Red Barn on crops, food, textiles, quilts, art and other open-class exhibits, except flowers. (Ontario Argus Observer, OR)
